1. Overview of Data Processing
MyAsset stores core financial data on your device by default. We do not require you to create a dedicated MyAsset account, and we do not obtain your Apple Account password, Dropbox password, or full payment card details.
Data is processed by Apple, Dropbox, Google, or other service providers as described below only when you choose to use cloud backup, shared ledgers, subscriptions, customer support, or a version of the Service that includes analytics or advertising.
2. Data We Process
| Data type | Content and source | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Financial and settings data | Income, expenses, accounts, categories, budgets, notes, recurring transactions, currencies, and app settings that you enter or import. | To provide bookkeeping, search, reports, budgets, and backup features. This data is stored on your device by default. |
| Shared ledger data | Financial content and changes within a shared ledger, as well as account and participant information processed by Apple for sharing. | To synchronize and share ledgers among invited participants through Apple iCloud and CloudKit. |
| Backup data | Databases, exported files, and backup files that you create or include in automatic backups. | To store data in iCloud Drive or Dropbox, at your direction, for restoration or use across devices. |
| Purchase and subscription data | Product identifiers, transaction verification results, subscription status, expiration or revocation status, and transaction information supplied by Apple. | To display prices, complete purchases, restore purchases, and determine access to shared ledger features. Apple processes payment information. |
| Diagnostics and usage data | May include device type, operating system, app version, crash information, feature usage events, IP address, or approximate location. | To maintain stability, analyze usage, prevent abuse, troubleshoot errors, and improve features through services such as Firebase. |
| Advertising data (Lite version) | Depending on your consent, system settings, and applicable law, Google Mobile Ads may process advertising identifiers, device information, IP address, ad interactions, or approximate location. | To load, measure, and limit advertisements and, where permitted, provide personalized advertising. |
| Support data | Your email address, message, attachments, and diagnostic information that you voluntarily send to us. | To respond to questions, investigate errors, and provide support. |
3. Purposes and Legal Bases
We process data only as necessary to provide the Service, perform our agreement with you, obtain your consent, comply with law, or pursue legitimate interests, including:
- Storing and presenting your financial data and settings.
- Performing backups, restorations, exports, and shared ledger synchronization at your direction.
- Processing purchases, restoring purchases, and determining subscription access.
- Providing notifications, customer support, security maintenance, troubleshooting, and feature improvements.
- Providing and measuring advertising in the Lite version in accordance with applicable consent and tracking requirements.
- Complying with legal obligations, protecting users and the Service, and resolving disputes.
4. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services
We do not directly sell your financial data. Data may be processed by the following providers to deliver features you choose to use:
- Apple: provides the App Store, StoreKit, iCloud Drive, CloudKit, push notifications, and related operating-system services. Apple processes data under its Privacy Policy.
- Dropbox: processes relevant files and authorization information when you connect your account and use Dropbox backup or export features. Dropbox processes data under its Privacy Policy.
- Google: Firebase may process diagnostics and usage data, and Google Mobile Ads may process advertising data in the Lite version. Google processes data under its Privacy Policy.
We may also disclose necessary data when required by law, to protect legal rights, to investigate a security incident, or at your direction. Third-party services may process data outside your location and protect it according to local law and applicable cross-border transfer mechanisms.
5. Shared Ledgers and Other Participants
When you join a shared ledger, the ledger owner and other authorized participants may view, create, modify, or delete its content. Invite only people you trust and avoid entering unnecessary sensitive personal information.
MyAsset does not control how other participants use information they have obtained. The ledger owner is responsible for managing participants, and participants may leave sharing through features provided by the app and Apple. Some changes or deletions may synchronize to every participant’s device.
6. Retention and Deletion
- On-device data: remains until you delete it in the app, erase the app’s data, or remove the app.
- iCloud and CloudKit data: is managed through controls provided by the app or Apple; shared data may also be affected by actions taken by the ledger owner.
- Dropbox backups: remain in your Dropbox app folder until you delete them through the app or Dropbox.
- Subscription records: are retained by Apple for transaction, accounting, and legal purposes; MyAsset reads only the status needed to provide access.
- Analytics, diagnostics, and advertising data: is handled according to each service provider’s retention settings and policies.
- Support records: are retained only as needed to address the issue, maintain security, or comply with legal obligations, and are then deleted or de-identified.
Removing the app does not necessarily delete data in iCloud, Dropbox, shared ledgers, or Apple subscription records. Manage or delete that data through the relevant service. To request help identifying data directly controlled by the MyAsset developer, contact us using the email address below.
7. Your Choices and Rights
- You can view, modify, export, or delete financial data within the app.
- You can choose not to enable iCloud, Dropbox, shared ledgers, notifications, or nonessential permissions, but related features may not be available.
- You can manage tracking, notifications, iCloud, and advertising choices in Apple system settings.
- You can disconnect Dropbox and manage uploaded backups in Dropbox.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple Account; deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of data, withdraw consent, or lodge a complaint.
8. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures and the security mechanisms provided by Apple, Dropbox, Google, and other service providers. No device, network transmission, or electronic storage method can guarantee absolute security. Use a device passcode, protect your accounts, and periodically confirm that backups of important data can be restored.
9. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not designed specifically for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information directly. If you believe a child has provided information without appropriate consent, contact us and we will take reasonable action within the scope of our control.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy because of changes to features, laws, or third-party services and will post a new effective date on this page. Where reasonably practicable, material changes will be communicated through the app or this website.
11. Contact Us
For questions about this policy, data processing, or deletion requests, email [email protected]. To protect your data, we may need to verify your identity or control of the relevant data.
Use of the Service is also governed by our Terms of Use.
